google porter cable 7424 and see what other reputable stores sell it for. Came on, this price is a rip-off.
NO POLISHER IS WORTH 350 dollars. Are these people NUTS.
I did research on what polisher to buy about 2-3 months ago. I stored this link as it was looked up to a fair amount and at the time listed for 75 dollars - that's right 75 dollars.
I am writing this review because the markup on this tool is ridiculous. CoastalTool currently has it at just over 100 - still not as low as it should be, but 350-some dollars.
I came back to a 350-some dollar tool. WHAT.Look anywhere but here for this tool.
DON'T BUY IT FROM THIS SELLER. TOTAL rip-off
You can buy these all over the net for 129.00 plus shipping. They are great items but 355.00-come on people. Even 179.00 without accessories is ridiculous.
I do not own an XP, so I cannot comment on the claims.Autogeek.net is an Amazon affiliate, and sells the PC7424 for about [.]. The 7424 is being replaced by the 7424xp.
It takes the work out of the polish & wax routine, and lays a more even coat of wax than I can.In addition to auto maintenance duty, I use this tool to clean & polish around the house: grout, tile, flooring, counter tops, shower stalls, bath tubs, etc. With the brush attachments, you can even clean carpet.
This is a well made tool that will greatly reduce the time you spend on vehicle polishing and waxing chores. Household chemical & abrasive residue on the accessories can harm the finish on your vehicle**.
It is much better and faster at scrubbing than I am. For safety reasons, make sure you plug it into a GFI protected circuit if using this tool around water.**Do not use the same accessories on your car after using them for household chores.
The XP is advertised as more powerful (4.5 vs 4.0 amp motor), a more ergonomic design, and lower vibration. You will still need to spend some $$ on additional polishing and waxing pads, so figure on $150 for everything you need to make your vehicle shine and protect it's finish.
The Porter-Cable 7424 is a great piece of equipment for anyone who wants to wax/buff and polish their car. It is safe enough for a beginner to use without fear of damaging the paint on their car. Couple this unit with Lake Country Foam Buffing pads and you have a machine that fits right in detailing professional's tool kit.
